Making Your Own Pet Clothes

Pet owners can save money and unleash their creativity by making their own pet clothes. The first step is to design or look for the right pattern. You can look at clothing stores or online shops to see what patterns are available.

After choosing the best design pattern, measure your pet’s neck, chest, leg, and inseam. Note these numbers while you buy the fabric. For smaller pets, you can reduce costs by using clothing remnants. The remnants must still be washable, durable, and appropriate for your pet’s fur or skin.  To ensure the fabric remnant will last, use materials from your old clothes or blankets that aren’t being used. Remnants are usually preferable if you’re on a tight budget.

Before finalizing the complete outfit, cut the fabric out to estimate the exact measurements. Be sure to do this before the actual sewing. Don’t be afraid to adjust accordingly if it ends up too big or small.
