I may have mentioned this before (can’t recall) but if not, consider this a good tip for young people who are still not sure if they’re going to have their senior pictures taken.  Do it.  I know you might think that you’re “too cool” for it now and that you know you’ll never want to look back at them and see them, but let me tell you something, you will almost certainly regret it at some point in you life and likely sooner than later if you don’t get your senior pictures Lincoln NEdone.  I only know a handful of people who didn’t do it and none of them say it is still no big deal, they wish they had done it.

I told my family that I wanted to have a garage sale in a few weeks. We have too much stuff, and we could stand to get rid of some things. My two daughters were not happy about selling their belongings. I asked them to find things that they no longer play with. They immediately found some toys that they could sell. I asked my husband if he was planning to go through his movie collection and he said no. He wanted to keep all his movies. I told him that he could get rid of a few movies he hadn’t seen in a while.

My brother was a big movie buff. I remember a few years ago when he would buy all of his favorites, and then when he moved to making copies of everything he rented. I always knew I could go to him if there was something I wanted to see. I noticed he had stopped adding to his wall of movies, so I asked him if he had grown tired of his hobby. He said that was not the case at all. Instead, he had discovered how to watch online movies for free. I immediately had to get all of the details from him so I could do the same.

I signed up for a community services class last week to attend a calligraphy training session.  I have always admired the beauty of the letters and would like to learn the skill and start my own handwriting service.  I think that many people would pay good money to have calligraphy writing on their wedding invitations.  I picked up the calligraphy pens at a local Craft Supplies store.  The pens look different and have a unique shape on the tips.  This must be how it makes the unique thick and thin lines that appear within each letter.  I am very excited about the upcoming class.

The school dance committee decided to do a retro dance from the early 50s and some of the students asked the teachers for help with planning the decorations, dress attire and music. The children were stumped as to what type of music was appropriate for the 50s era. I gave them a business card of a detroit party band to interview, I told the kids this band would be great for their event. A few days later, a group of the committee came up to me and thanked me. They told me the band played some snippets of 50s songs during the meeting and they loved them.

Music Education should not be forgotten in our schools. This is vital if we are going to achieve balanced young people growing up. Playing music: Learning an instrument properly and performing in the school band program develops excellent discipline and self confidence in children. It has been shown time and time again, and prospective employers often look well on children who have participated in band programs, as they have shown to have that discipline that it takes to practice the instrument day in, and day out. Time and time again these studies show that music kids are more focussed, more energetic, and achieve better results. Therefore lets not forget music education in the school system!
